The First Liberty Digest on the Internet -- The Patriot Post

"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." --Thomas Jefferson will celebrate our 15th year on the Internet. That doesn't sound like many years, but amazingly, we were the first, and thus now the oldest of conservative policy digests on the Web. It's hard to believe that, back in 1996, there were only a handful of conservative organizations breaking ground in what was then this "new medium."

Rush Limbaugh had led the way into radio. Fox was charting new territory into cable television, and we were launching our timeless message of Liberty on the Internet. In retrospect, I suppose we owe it all to Al Gore, who infamously claimed to have "invented the Internet."

We experienced immediate success, inspiring this assessment from the Harvard Political Review: is "leading a surprisingly well-organized charge into the world of Internet politics." Today, we remain in the lead because we have never wavered in our steadfast advocacy of Liberty and our nation's First Principles.

From our first day, we have operated with one mission: To be the Web's most effective voice for Essential Liberty, the restoration of constitutional limits on government and the judiciary, and the promotion of free enterprise, national defense and traditional American values.

Our objective is more critical now than ever. We provide Patriots across our nation with a hard-hitting rebuttal to contemporary political, social and mainstream media protagonists on the Left, and serve as an outstanding touchstone of First Principles so Patriots may better support and defend those Principles, and enlist others to join our ranks. We are meeting that objective, and doing so in the most cost-effective method possible.

Our financing model was, and remains, as unconventional as our publication. Our operations budget is financed on a mission-based model so that we can remain free of charge to all our collegiate and military readers, as well as others with limited means, across the nation and around the world. We are not sustained by any political, special interest or parent organization, nor do we accept online or e-mail advertising. We depend entirely upon the voluntary financial support of our countrymen -- American Patriots like YOU.

Al Gore: He's baaack

Drop the Gore vs. Obama script
Drop the Gore vs. Obama script

Since Al Gore invented the Internet -- we couldn't help ourselves from that joke -- what better place to experiment than with his channel. The politics make sense, the brands make sense, and everyone's a little sick of speculating.

Gore's consolation prizes hit the ground

Recognizing that has to hurt. No question about it. Al Gore is one of the whackiest (and I don't mean that to have any positive connotations) people around. Some of the things he has said (“I invented the internet”) are down right delusional.

Hubert Chang, not Al Gore, invented the Internet

Chang. All this and more he tossed away to finish his Ph.D. at NYU, which he finally accomplished in late 2002, as he explained in the video. Or 2003, as he explained on his archived homepage , below.

Look, I get it, working on a dissertation can make you go crazy. That said, armed with his advanced degree, Chang should at least be able to get a job at Google answering customer-support calls or keeping an eye on toddlers at the Kinderplex.
