I swirled the rosé around in my glass admiring the pinkish hue and the long legs that had begun to creep down the sides. I inhaled the sweet, and yet sharp, notes and took a tentative sip, swishing the wine ever so slightly in my mouth in order to capture the strawberries and cream taste, that had been promised in the description.

I was in New Zealand experiencing my first legal wine tasting.

A little less than two years ago my mother asked how I would feel about hosting another exchange student, this time from Australia. I jumped on the opportunity, as I had already had so many wonderful experiences with our previous exchange students. I eagerly waited for January when Tilly would arrive.

The bond we formed was instant, and Tilly and I quickly fell into sisterly habits. My friends befriended her and I showed her what Napa had to offer. When the semester was up, I declared that I would go visit her in Australia in a year’s time, and she would have to show me around the land down under.

As part of the trip I would also be going to New Zealand, a location that held a childhood attachment for me. My father read me the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I had watched the films that were shot on location there.

Using my parents well-accumulated miles, given to me as a birthday/graduation present, I bought my tickets to Australia, where I would be staying for two weeks, and New Zealand, where I would be staying for one week. A week after graduating, one of my best friends, Shelby Lanterman, and I took off on two separate 15-hour plane rides to Oz.

We left beautiful sunny California on the eve of June 13, only to arrive on the 15 of June to a steady stream of rain at 7 in the morning. We were slightly tired but ready to begin our adventures.

My mother’s family friends, the Biancardis, took us to their home in the suburb of Artarmon, where we would be staying for a little over a week before we made our way down to Bowral and Tilly. The house, located about 20 minutes outside of the city, couldn’t have been better situated as it was just a five-minute walk to the train, which would take us anywhere we needed to go for a mere $4, round trip.

Sydney was just as every picture, movie and guide book made it out to be: historical landmarks squeezed in with a multitude of relatively new skyscrapers, pristine beaches and very clean public restrooms. Our exploration in Sydney focused mainly in the central business district or the “CBD.” From there we could easily get to the Central Quay, Darling Harbor and any other location that required a train or bus — e.g., the glorious Sydney beaches.

Other thing to consider is the song. Those little songs are really funny and enjoyable, becoming easier to keep playing it for long hours. Oh, and we can’t forget about those graphics – you can find several flash games with ugly graphics, but that game graphics are really nice!

What reasons to consider if Icy Tower is a good game or not? Well, I love that game and I guess I can cite several motives to play it.

This game is spreading over the world quickly – it has desktop versions (Windows and Linux), Facebook version and is present in several free flash games! And, to finish, in my opinion, Icy Tower has a good replay factor, using level design generated procedurally, that is, randomly created, and one high score system able to motivate any user to play more and more trying to be the best.
