RugDoctor Review & Coupons

I was afraid it would be too heavy to put in my van. But in fact, it rolled easily through the parking lot and the handle folded in so it took up less space. It was not nearly as heavy as I expected and was easy to transport to and from my house.

It was not a complicated process figuring out how to clean the carpets. There are 2 tanks – one for the clean water with the shampoo and the other tank where the dirty water collects. You mix the shampoo in a bucket then pour into the bottom tank.

I rented the attachments so I could clean my couch, chairs and vehicle interior. However, I could not get the hand sprayer to work right. When I started to clean my couch, all I got was a big spray mess. I don’t know that I would rent the hand tool again next time. (It only cost $3.00, so it’s not a big expense. It probably was just me not being smarter than a tool, but I’m not sure…..)

***To attach the hand cleaner, you have to disconnect the existing hose and water pipe. This wasn’t hard to do once I realized what was expected.

You must buy the shampoo to go in the Rug Doctor. The shampoo is available in 2 sizes – 2-4 room bottle and 4-6 room bottle. The large bottle cost $18.99. This was a necessary expense.

There are other cleaner options as well. I tried the Hi Traffic Area spray (6.99), Spot & Stain Remover (6.99) and bought the Anti-Foam ($4.00). If you plan to do uphoulstry or couch and chairs, it is highly recommended that you use the Anti-Foam.

Here’s a calculator that will help you know which products you will need and the estimated cost.

My overall opinion of the Rug Doctor? A great alternative this year to buying a Carpet Cleaner.

Click here for a $5 machine rental coupon and $3.00 off the large cleaner.

Disclosure: I was reimbursed for the costs of machine rental and cleaning supplies from RugDoctor but all opinions are my own.
