Sterrett named as Riedesel's replacement in Millcreek
A familiar face in local government will replace George Riedesel as executive director of the Millcreek Township water and sewer authorities.
David Sterrett, who has worked for the city of Erie and Summit Township, among other jobs, will start in Millcreek on July 18.
Sterrett, 56, of Girard Township, said he's looking forward to his new job.
Sterrett was hired by the Water Authority and the Sewer Authority during a joint meeting.
His annual salary will be $100,000, or $10,000 less than Riedesel's current salary. Riedesel is retiring July 11 after 13 years with the authorities.
Sterrett is now employed as regional business development manager for Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc., a Harrisburg-based company that consults on civil and environmental engineering.
Sterrett has worked nearly 10 years for the company. Though he works in the Erie area, he is assigned to the western Pennsylvania regional office in Butler County.
Sterrett previously worked as engineer for Summit Township from October 1994 to September 2001, and before that as superintendent of environmental services for International Paper Co.'s Erie plant, from March 1992 to October 1994. He worked for the city of Erie from April 1984 to March 1992 in a variety of top jobs.
Millcreek Supervisor Richard Figaski, the liaison to the authorities, said he's known Sterrett for years and applauded the hiring. "A great guy, a wonderful person,'' Figaski said.
