Rays to Hold Broadcast Auction Friday July 1 to Benefit Tampa General Hospital

(Tampa, FL) The Tampa Bay Rays will hold a broadcast auction featuring unique experience packages during their game at Tropicana Field against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, July 1 beginning at 7:10 p.m.  The 2011 Rays Broadcast Auction will be conducted during the Rays radio and television broadcasts and will benefit the Rays Baseball Foundation and the Tampa General Hospital Children’s Medical Center.

The game will be aired on Sun Sports, the Rays radio broadcast on The Sports Animal WDAE 620 AM and the team’s Spanish language radio affiliate Genesis 680 AM.  Fans will receive periodic updates on the auctions via these three outlets throughout the game.  Bids can be placed by visiting raysbaseball.com/broadcastauction at the start of the game.  The auction will run from 7:10 p.m. until 10:15 p.m.

Mark Herzlich featured on NFL Network and “The Sports Animal ...

Mark Herzlich played linebacker at Boston College for four years, but in 2009 he had been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.  He was told he would never play football again.  After a long and strenuous recovery process, Mark has overcome the odds and gotten back on the football field.

Currently, Mark is training at IMG Academies for the NFL Combine and was recently interviewed on 620 WDAE “The Sports Animal” radio show out of Tampa, Florida.  During the interview, Mark discusses Boston College, beating cancer, and preparing for the NFL Combine and Draft:
