Novero Tour

Stereo Bluetooth is seeing something of a renaissance lately, as various manufacturers have figured out how to make headsets that overcome the protocol's inherent sound quality limitations. The latest is the $79 Novero Tour, a smartly designed stereo Bluetooth headset that's comfortable, easy to use, and sounds good. As with anything Bluetooth, audiophiles will want to stick with wired models. But for casual listening, the Tour does the job quite well.

Design, Fit, and Pairing
The Novero Tour measures 6.2 by 6.2 by 0.6 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.4 ounces. It eschews the convertible design of the Samsung Modus HM6450 ($99, 4 stars) and the earbuds-on-wires design of the LG HBS-700 ($69.99, 3.5 stars) for a more traditional headband that folds up for travel. My test model was black; an off-white version will also be available soon. In the box, Novero provides a velvet pouch, an AC adapter, and a wall charger, along with a single pair of felt ear tips. You can put these on or leave them off; I would have liked to see at least one spare set in the box as well, since they're virtually impossible to fit on the earbuds without tearing.

The Tour is adjustable; both sides extend downward with tight-fitting metal bands, similar to what Sony uses on its higher-end MDR-V6 and MDR-7506 studio headphones, so that you can position them properly while securing the band lightly across the top of your head. Novero pretty much nailed it when it comes to fit; these headphones look good, aren't too obtrusive, feel comfortable, and stay put, even through an entire gym workout.

It's also easy to reach all of the Tour's controls. The right side contains a multi-function button that powers on the device and answers and rejects calls. The left side features two large volume buttons. All the buttons feel solid and offer a pleasant, silent click when pressed. To pair the Tour, you hold the multi-function button down for about six seconds. I had no trouble pairing the Tour with a Samsung Infuse 4G ($199, 3.5 stars) and an HTC Incredible (4.5 stars).

Sound Quality, Other Features, and Conclusions
Sound quality was good overall, if not stellar, with smooth frequency response across almost the entire frequency spectrum. There was little harshness in the treble—a common stereo Bluetooth bugaboo—and certainly no audible artifacts in the audio. On the downside, there's little bass response. The bass that exists is pretty tight, but it doesn't extend that far down; there's significant roll-off below about 100 Hz. That's more than you get with a set of stock iPod earbuds, but in-ear designs like the Samsung Modus HM6450, as well as over-the-ear traditional headphones like the Nokia BH-905 ($249, 3.5 stars) deliver much more punch. Still, it's easy to forget that the Novero Tour is a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Given the protocol's inherent sound quality limitations, that's a very good thing.

The professional audio industry standard. The MDR-7506 is a large diaphragm foldable headphones designed for professional studio and live / broadcast applications. Proven reliability in the toughest situations. Headset has gold connectors, an oxygen – free cord. Supplied soft case.

By A. Powell I’ve been using these phones for over 10 years of professional video production. Are quite comparable with the consumer version of the MDR-V600.

These over-ear headphones, in the sense that fit your ears without touching them – they sit on your head, but not the ears, which means that the ears do not get angry. This is also to isolate acoustically in an environment that can be a great or bad .. If you want to hear what’s around safety. If you sweat a lot, they also tend to trap moisture.

The sound reproduction is excellent and full-range, and because of the sound insulation of phones, you understand and you will not hear much of what is happening around you without phones. They said a little low compared to other frequencies, but it is something that most people do not bother me.

The vis-à-vis the tip 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch stereo plug reveal, to work with most mobile reading devices. I highly recommend them as durable, excellent sound horses that you will use for many years.
